Miss NJ:  Most, if not all, of these teams are low seeds (9-16).  So, you’re probably wondering why they matter.  They matter because when the team that is supposed to win the tournament and automatic bid gets upset it creates problems for the selection committee.  Now a conference that only should have had one or two teams in the Dance has an extra team to be accomodated.  That means a bubble team is going to get its heart broken on Sunday.

Two results stand out, Mount St. Mary’s and San Diego.  The number one team in the NEC was Robert Morris with a 26-7 record (16-2, conf.).  RM has a signature win over Boston College.  They should still get in.  The number one team in WCC was Gonzaga who is going to get an automatic bid.  But there’s Saint Mary’s, the number two team at 25-6 (12-2, conf.).  They have signature wins over Oregon and Seton Hall and gave Gonzaga their only conference loss this season.

So, if all three teams get at-large bids, who gets left out?  I think that I will live blog during the Selection Show on Sunday.  Right now that’s just a thought.  We’ll see how the weekend goes.
